Writing Recipe

A Poem
4
1

Light a candle
to lure the muse
just like the
proverbial moth.

Coffee, tea, something stronger?
Go for it.

Butt in chair.
Hands on keys.
Game face on.

The words are in there.
Coax them.
Start typing —
something will happen.

What’s next in the story?
What point longs to be made?
What poetry lies in your fingertips?

Use your voice.
Let lightning strike.

Make moves,
not excuses.

Your want-to must outwit your
Fear
Insecurity
Distractions
Boredom
Busyness

Step aside please, all.

A wave of words
swells and rises,
bubbles beneath
your surface.

Open your mind and heart.
Let the wave break on the shore.
